SELF-ISHNESS!!
Good afternoon beautiful people... Yeeppp it's a wonderful Sunday where we always get stirred up for the week ahead. I hope you fellowshipped with the brethren today in your respective churches.
Most of us assumedly are Christians on a general note with the love nature of God inherently deposited in us. I'm always marvelled at the height of SELF-ISHNESS expressed amongst believers.
Even when asked, many believers say they are not selfish and are lovers of God and I wonder if my understanding of SELF-ISHNESS is different from what they understand. Self-ishness in my understanding is projecting or putting yourself or considering yourself first before other people. Most people might see it differently and say they are not selfish, but lemme bring to light areas where I see people being selfish.
Before I go on, as you can see i divided the word SELF-ISHNESS into two...the first being Self and that's where my emphasis is on. As a Christian to start with, you are dead to self. You don't live for your own any more. Infact you have no life of your own... You are only taking care of the life given to you as a gift by God when you received Christ Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior.
So the life you live is not yours and you don't live on your own accord.
Now tell me what happens when you are asked to go out and tell someone about Christ Jesus in winter, summer, autumn, spring as commanded by our Master and you bring up excuses like its cold, my job, my school, my sleep... What are you putting first? Self
Secondly, you are asked to pray or even pray n fast for a certain nation, or city or disciple or even for lost souls... And you consider time, hunger, sleep, movie, and your headache or stress you feel you might have... And you say you don't put self first?
Lastly, in the area of giving... Not even giving a big seed in church... I mean you pass by and you see your class mate or colleague at work hungry or even difficult to transport themself and you consider how you yourself will fend tomorrow if you help out today... Brother Abi sister how weak is your faith? How well have you considered self?
Do you think if Jesus had considered self, he would have died for me and you? Really? By the way the life, strength, wisdom, food, money, ideas you have now who gave them to you and why can't you freely offer a helping hand with or without anything in return? Has your love waxed cold or maybe it's on the ice level?
Remember you are an ambassador of Christ. Please represent well. You are the Jesus people will read, listen to and possibly follow cos as He is so are we in this world.
It's so much a shocker to me when I see how many prioritize their lives first before others and yet expect God who sees the secret, the heart of man to openly grant you all your desires when you haven't yet met or helped to meet the desire of another or even His which is to get souls saved.
Lastly I would ask again who are you really as a Christian?
For the love of God and His people, pls let's be like minded like God. I appreciate n celebrate you fully.
God bless you so much. Love you always. Happy new week. Pls like, comment, read n share 😘😘😘😍😍
