Labels like "husband","wife", "mother", "father", "sister", "brother", "friend" imply a close friendship but do you know that is a costly assumption? By the label, most people assume that they really know each other. How deceptive!!!
No relationship should be closer, more personal or more intimate than that which exists between a husband and wife. Such intimacy involves not only love but also knowledge. A husband and wife should know each other better than they know anyone else in the world. They know each other's likes and dislikes, their strengths and weaknesses,their good and bad qualities, gifts and talents, their character flaws...infact they ought to know ideally those undesirable traits that they hide from everyone else.
That's what the waiting process ought to be..a couple ought to know as much as possible about each other- good and bad before they stand together at the marriage altar. Marriage is a lifelong journey into intimacy but also into friendship. A husband and wife should be each other's best friend. There is no higher relationship other than friendship cos nobody knows us better than our friends.
Never assume in your relationship simply cos you are married or you are dating or simply cordial friends...else you may do nothing more than scratch the surface,never plumbing the depths of each other's personalities to gain true knowledge and build a deep and intimate relationship.
